Bad news for old-school D&D geeks
Happy woof!

Paizo and WOTC are officially cancelling DRAGON and DUNGEON, the two oldest magazines in roleplaying. For years they were among the very best the industry had to offer. Much of what I learned about non-TSR games I got through them, and the fiction they ran was great. Who noe remembers that John Betancourt and Harry Turtledove rane some of their earliest stories in the hallowed pages of DRAGON?

:sniff: Farewell, old friends.

And on a less-exalted level, Marvel Comics (the House of Increasingly Tasteless Ideas) has produced a romance comic aimed at teenaged girls. So who features in the first story? Aunt May -- in a sexed up story, no less.

And oh yes, the general tone of the comic is very sleazy and slutty, apparently because the writers feel that "That's what young girls are like." If you can't believe this, and I don't blame you, I'll see if I can find a link somewhere around here.

Go ahead, guys, every time you pull another stunt like this you remind me why I'm not buying your stuff any more.

Huh.

I haven't bought a Dragon or Dungeon magazine in years. They just kept getting thinner and thinner - with more ads.

Lost Dragon

The magazines are changing over to an online format through the Wizards of the Coast site after the final printed issues are delivered. I can understand the logic - many people surf the internet and it saves resources to not print the magazines - however the move away from printed materials is something I regret deeply. Not only because of the convenience in taking a book or magazine where I go but also in how it feels to be able to flip through pages and feel the texture, smell the pages, and enjoy the fabulous color presented before my curious and interested eyes.
